Scottsdale is getting pumped up with press. In January, wallethub named Scottsdale as #1 for job-market strength as compared to more than 180 U.S. cities across 30 key indicators. This was followed by an article in the Wall Street Journal in mid-April discussing Scottsdale as a “grown up” hot spot of energy and millennials. The article discussed restaurants, and a high rise urban live-work-play density. Another slew of blogs appeared as Americans worked to file US tax returns: Arizona is known as having some of the lowest property taxes in the nation, and with new deduction limitations, Arizona started looking better than just a vacation spot. Many are noting the hefty insurance premium adjustments being realized as policies renew, with insurers attempting to claw back into the black after a decade of catastrophic claims, another plug for Arizona’s lack of inclement weather. So finally, after so many decades of being viewed as a retirement mecca for golf carts and nursing homes, the rest of the country is finally catching up with reality and considering Arizona as a viable alternative to call home.
